Create a simple index
List each item by date, source, and type. An index lets you identify what you have without repeatedly sharing sensitive records.
Separate event and insurance records
Keep reports, photographs, witness information, policy details, claim numbers, letters, emails, and recorded-statement requests in clearly labeled folders. Preserve originals where possible.
Organize health information by provider
Keep visit summaries, referrals, work restrictions, bills, and insurance explanations together. A personal symptom note can help you remember dates but is not a substitute for medical records.
Track work and other costs
Save employer notes, wage records, receipts, and invoices that may help a lawyer understand claimed losses. Do not assume every cost is legally recoverable.
Share securely
Confirm the firm and its intake method before sending sensitive information. Ask which records are needed first instead of emailing an entire archive without instructions.
